“We’ve worked on everything from
highways to dams to private projects.”

Charles Nolan, Chairman, NPI

“NPI’s history can largely be defined by the decade”
In the 1930s and 40s the firm focused primarily on construction with a concentration around highway expansion. In the 1950s it was strategic air command. In the 1960s the firm transitioned from large US general contractor work to private development. Every time the firm adapted to the new environment before them. Aiming to stay ahead of the curve and capitalizing on the abundant interest targeting real estate in the United States, our firm sold over 4 million square feet of its portfolio in 2006.
NPI’s expanded vision is about “place-making”; creating places through experiences and the development of mixed-use projects. Growth occurs in locations and markets that are fueled by multiple stabilized demand generators, areas with high barriers of entry and/or markets that have analytical data that demonstrate a trajectory for stabilized growth. Over the past 8 years, NPI has successfully executed the program on multiple large mixed-use projects targeted around transportation hubs, universities, and urban cores.
“It was a somewhat straightforward
decision to stay private.”
